Is it safe to say that this spring weather is here to stay? The trees sure think so. The grass that is beautiful and green and the sprouting flowers sure think so. I just know that once I get all the clothing switched over for the family, the weather we SHOULD be having will rear its ugly head and we will swiftly return to reality. So...we are living in denial. Despite the necessities of mowing the grass (the back yard was becoming Darby's jungle) and several things around the house, we are resisting the urge to spring full force into "Spring." No planting for the Keimig's...not yet.
We did chop into a rather large project this weekend and began chopping away at the two large and overgrown bushes by the front door of our house. They were just too difficult to maintain, and blocked half of our driveway, so we decided to do away with them and expand our front garden. The project is only half done, but we are already so pleased with the results. From the outside our house appears SO much bigger...losing the bushes really opened the front of the house. AND, Vinnie's room feels larger as well, as one of the windows that was once entirely blocked by the bushes now lets in sun! Little by little, Jon continues to cut away at what remains, filling our "Yardy" bins with as much as he can.
A view of the front of the house BEFORE bush demolition. Stay tuned for AFTER pictures!
I think Vinnie has helped us enjoy spring to its fullest this year. We both find ourselves rushing to get home, or hurrying dinner for some time to sit in the backyard with him, push him in the swing, or go for a walk around the neighborhood. After months of being forced inside, it is so nice to get out and enjoy all the little things with him.
Daddy and Vinnie enjoying some outside time.
As the Easter holiday approaches, we are anxious for another first time celebration with Vinnie. We look forward to time with Grandma and Grandpa Keimig this next weekend!
All smiles on a beautiful April 1st!
Until next week...All our love from Iowa!
