Sick baby!

Sorry to be coming to you a little late... the Keimig family had quite a weekend! It all started Friday night with a fever, cough, puking, and a trip to the ER. After spending over 3 hours, we were discharged and told, "its just something viral." We headed home with our miserable little guy and thought maybe one more day of misery, but as long as we kept that fever in check, he was on his way to recovery. He woke up Saturday morning feverless, yay, so we headed out to run some errands. As the day progressed, the little guy got more and more miserable. A fever spiked again Saturday afternoon, and he spent the rest of Saturday moaning and groaning. That is by far the worst thing to endure as a parent...a sick child that you just can't help or fix! By Sunday afternoon things weren't getting any better so we headed to Urgent Care where we finally got some answers, and most importantly medicine! He has some bronchial gunk, so he's getting Nebulizer treatments every 4-6 hours. He also has an ear infection, so he is once again on meds for that. He started all his treatments yesterday afternoon, and I (mom) called in sick today to stay home with him. He hasn't had a fever since last night, and he seems to be feeling better...he is even playing and giggling from time to time! I think we're finally on the mend! I am hoping to make some phone calls this afternoon to find a chiropractor in town that treats little ones...maybe that's just what we need to get over these ear infections and all this gunk!

With Vinnie sick, we weren't able to accomplish quite as much as we wanted to this weekend. Thanks to this amazing weather, Jon found time to mow the lawn...can you believe it, not even April and we HAD to mow...our backyard was a jungle. The lawn looks beautiful, proof that Jon's obsessive seeding and care over the past year and a half, may actually pay off, and this yard may turn around. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, and Vinnie was feeling better (maybe it was just all the drugs), so we squeezed in some family time outside in that beautiful lawn! I know Darby and Vinnie loved it!

I am heading into what I call "IEP Season" at work. I will spend the next two months writing IEP's, holding meetings for my current students, staffing out some of my students, and attending meetings to staff in new students! It can be quite chaotic! BUT, on the horizon is a summer of play, sun, travel, and nothing but good times with my little Vinnie (and Jon too, from time to time). It is definitely what gets me through these days!

Until Next week...Love from Iowa!
