I Like to Move it!!!

(This little mover is becoming rather difficult to catch a picture of...blurry from all the movement!)

We have a mover in our house. Not necessarily in the formal sense...but Vinnie is definately working his way to it. He loves to roll from a sitting position to his belly in the crawling position, and is now even pulling himself up on his knees and bouncing occasionally. He also does a combination of a log roll and army crawl to reach desired toys and objects of interest (remote controls and cell phones). Despite the lack of encouragement from his mother (I just wish he could stay this way forever), he continues to become more and more interested in getting things on his own and navigating and exploring his surroundings. I suppose we should start thinking about babyproofing this house. Yikes.

Vinnie also enjoys moving in his new "Johnny Jump Up." He absolutely loves a similar toy at daycare so we purchased this delightful invention and it is just now starting to provide enjoyment and entertainment for not only Vinnie, but Mom and Dad as well. We have it hooked to the door frame going to the laundry room, providing a perfect place for Vinnie while mom folds laundry only steps away, or while dad works on the computer. I've included a video of Vinnie bouncing away... (you'll have to tilt your head to watch, I couldn't figure out how to flip it.)

This coming weekend we will be heading to Nebraska to introduce Vinnie to many Wennstedt/Hemje/Keimig relatives. We are so excited for this mini reunion! The following weekend we will have visitors from Minnesota, this time Grandma and Papa Foley. Be sure to check back for pictures and updates.

Until next week,

Happy Easter!

(Easter morning Family photo)

What a blessed and celebratory Easter Sunday it was at the Keimig house! We woke up to beautiful sunshine this morning and watched Vinnie open his easter basket(s) before heading off to church. Vinnie was an absolute angel through mass and the envy of many parents around us as they wrestled, fed, and darted in and out of church with their little ones. Those are the times we are reminded that we are very lucky and hope our luck with this little one continues! We returned home for a delightful afternoon of walks, swings, sunshine and many, many pictures! As the day turned to evening we enjoyed a ham and potato feast for dinner and a sweet treat of mudslide brownies. We wrapped up the day with play time and watching the end of the Masters. Whew!

We have so enjoyed our visitors (Grandma and Grandpa Keimig) this weekend! It is so nice to have family to share these special 1st events and holidays with Vinnie.

I just counted...39 days until the end of the school year. Each day at home, whether it be sickness induced or holiday/vacation gets me more and more excited for the summer adventures Vinnie and I get to share together. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to spend the summer home with him!

MORE beautiful weather?!?

Is it safe to say that this spring weather is here to stay? The trees sure think so. The grass that is beautiful and green and the sprouting flowers sure think so. I just know that once I get all the clothing switched over for the family, the weather we SHOULD be having will rear its ugly head and we will swiftly return to reality. So...we are living in denial. Despite the necessities of mowing the grass (the back yard was becoming Darby's jungle) and several things around the house, we are resisting the urge to spring full force into "Spring." No planting for the Keimig's...not yet.

We did chop into a rather large project this weekend and began chopping away at the two large and overgrown bushes by the front door of our house. They were just too difficult to maintain, and blocked half of our driveway, so we decided to do away with them and expand our front garden. The project is only half done, but we are already so pleased with the results. From the outside our house appears SO much bigger...losing the bushes really opened the front of the house. AND, Vinnie's room feels larger as well, as one of the windows that was once entirely blocked by the bushes now lets in sun! Little by little, Jon continues to cut away at what remains, filling our "Yardy" bins with as much as he can.
A view of the front of the house BEFORE bush demolition. Stay tuned for AFTER pictures!

I think Vinnie has helped us enjoy spring to its fullest this year. We both find ourselves rushing to get home, or hurrying dinner for some time to sit in the backyard with him, push him in the swing, or go for a walk around the neighborhood. After months of being forced inside, it is so nice to get out and enjoy all the little things with him.
Daddy and Vinnie enjoying some outside time.

As the Easter holiday approaches, we are anxious for another first time celebration with Vinnie. We look forward to time with Grandma and Grandpa Keimig this next weekend!
All smiles on a beautiful April 1st!
