Welcome Thompson Patrick Keimig!

He is here!  After much anticipation, especially on the part of his big brother Vinnie, Thompson Patrick joined the world on August 26th, 2015 at 6:14pm.  He weighed in at 7lbs. 3oz, just a bit heavier than his big brother was at birth, and measured at 20 inches, just an inch shorter than Vin.  His first name, Thompson, is Jon's maternal grandmother's maiden name, and his middle name, Patrick is my father.  Just as with Vinnie, we wanted to honor some special people with our new little guy.

His delivery was pretty smooth and drama free, something Jon and I happily welcomed after a bit of a bumpy delivery our first go around.  Throughout the course of our hospital stay we had a steady flow of visitors as well as some quiet time to ourselves to get to know our newest family member.  On Friday morning we were able to head home and have been settling into a new normal, now as a family of 4.

Vinnie is great.  Greater than great...he wants to watch, help, and be a part of anything and everything that involves his baby brother.  He is a laundry list of questions, inquiring how or why everything is done.  So far, Thompson is very laid back and has settled into the newborn normal of sleeping, then pooping, eating, a brief moment with eyes open before starting the cycle all over again.  While our first night at home was a bit rocky, last night we found a bit of a groove and were able to steal a few hours of sleep in the midst of that newborn cycle.

Will we are veterans at this baby thing, this time around offers a whole new experience.  We have been enjoying sharing this with close friends and family who are no longer a 5 hour drive away.  What a blessing to have a steady flow of friends and family who are anxious to welcome our newest family member.

We look forward to getting to know Thompson and see his personality grow, and the many adventures we will now embark on as a family of FOUR.  We can't wait to share the exciting times with each of you!

And...we're back!

Hello family and friends!

To those of you who are avid readers and followers of our family blog, my deepest apologies for the lack of posts, pictures and updates over the past year.  As all of you know, our family went through a rather large transition last summer with a move from Cedar Rapids, IA home to Minnesota.  We spent one month living with my sister's family in Buffalo before moving to our very own home in Blaine, MN.  We were new to our jobs, new to our community, and readjusting to life together as a family of three after spending 9 months living apart to make this transition possible.  The summer was crazy and kicked off a crazy year.  Sadly, the blog went on the back burner.

But...we as we prepare for yet another huge transition...becoming a family of FOUR, we are back in action!  As Vinnie grows, I so enjoy looking back on old blog posts and remembering the sweet memories we made and all of his milestones and big moments.  I want that to continue for Vinnie and I want that for our next little person as well.  And while we are no longer living at least 5 hours away from all of our family, I know that there are family and friends near and far who have missed the updates and would love the occasional photo and story about the adventures of the Keimig boys!

As I write this I am approximately 5 days out from the due date of Baby Keimig #2.  To say we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this child would be a drastic understatement.  The mind-games of "If i do this, he will come..." have started and I have been making myself crazy.  Vinnie reported the other night that he was "frustrated the baby isn't here yet."  Me too little man, me too!  It's so hard to prepare Vinnie for this change when we don't really have a definitive answer when things are going to happen and this change will be here.  Instead, we keep busy and preoccupied with trips to the library, stores, parks, the beach, or plenty of art projects and activities in the midst of quiet days at home.

So, stay tuned as we embark on this next journey.  I promise to return to my posts, probably not as frequent as they were with Vinnie, but there will certainly be updates more than you have seen in the last year.

See you soon!
