Sick baby!

Sorry to be coming to you a little late... the Keimig family had quite a weekend! It all started Friday night with a fever, cough, puking, and a trip to the ER. After spending over 3 hours, we were discharged and told, "its just something viral." We headed home with our miserable little guy and thought maybe one more day of misery, but as long as we kept that fever in check, he was on his way to recovery. He woke up Saturday morning feverless, yay, so we headed out to run some errands. As the day progressed, the little guy got more and more miserable. A fever spiked again Saturday afternoon, and he spent the rest of Saturday moaning and groaning. That is by far the worst thing to endure as a parent...a sick child that you just can't help or fix! By Sunday afternoon things weren't getting any better so we headed to Urgent Care where we finally got some answers, and most importantly medicine! He has some bronchial gunk, so he's getting Nebulizer treatments every 4-6 hours. He also has an ear infection, so he is once again on meds for that. He started all his treatments yesterday afternoon, and I (mom) called in sick today to stay home with him. He hasn't had a fever since last night, and he seems to be feeling better...he is even playing and giggling from time to time! I think we're finally on the mend! I am hoping to make some phone calls this afternoon to find a chiropractor in town that treats little ones...maybe that's just what we need to get over these ear infections and all this gunk!

With Vinnie sick, we weren't able to accomplish quite as much as we wanted to this weekend. Thanks to this amazing weather, Jon found time to mow the lawn...can you believe it, not even April and we HAD to mow...our backyard was a jungle. The lawn looks beautiful, proof that Jon's obsessive seeding and care over the past year and a half, may actually pay off, and this yard may turn around. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, and Vinnie was feeling better (maybe it was just all the drugs), so we squeezed in some family time outside in that beautiful lawn! I know Darby and Vinnie loved it!

I am heading into what I call "IEP Season" at work. I will spend the next two months writing IEP's, holding meetings for my current students, staffing out some of my students, and attending meetings to staff in new students! It can be quite chaotic! BUT, on the horizon is a summer of play, sun, travel, and nothing but good times with my little Vinnie (and Jon too, from time to time). It is definitely what gets me through these days!

Until Next week...Love from Iowa!

Spring Break in MN...

Family picture at the Como Zoo

It is hard to believe that it is already time for Spring Break! And even harder to believe the beautiful weather that we got to enjoy during our spring break! For the second year in a row we ventured to MN for a week with friends and family, this time dragging little Vinnie along. We started out the week with Grandma and Papa in St. Bonifacius. There we spent time playing with cousins and seeing family, shopping, and getting the latest and greatest technology for those grandparents!

From there we ventured onto White Bear for more time with family and friends, a trip to the Zoo, and even a parade!

We were so grateful for the time up north. We are looking forward to some time at home over the next few months, and visits in Cedar Rapids with family!

We will include several pictures from our time in Minnesota!

Sitting Tall!!!

(Look who's 7 months old!)
It was a momentous week in our house. After weeks of wobbling while trying, Vinnie finally sat on his own on Thursday. This opens the doors to so many new possibilities for toys, including a fast favorite...the PIANO! Looks like we have a little music man on our hands. Check out the video below!
(Sitting tall and playing piano!)

After a busy week of work/school/daycare, we had a fairly low-key weekend. We have lived in Cedar Rapids for almost two years now, but had never gotten around to getting our driver licenses updated, so Saturday morning we ventured to town early in an effort to beat the crowds and update our address. We spent over an hour at the DMV waiting...fortunately Vinnie slept most of it. After we did some shopping and headed home for some snoozing and resting before heading to church, then dinner with the Holtan's. Vinnie loved smiling at Bella and laughing at Parker. Good food, good company, all around good time!

(Is there something on my face?!?)

Today was our usual Sunday with laundry and baby food making. Once more week, then its off to Minnesota for a week. We are anxious for some relaxing time with family and cannot wait to introduce Vinnie to the St. Paul St. Patty's day parade!!!
(We can't forget about our little miss Darby)

Until next week...all our love from Iowa!
