Enough with the April Showers!

While our family in Minnesota is getting snow storm after snow storm...down in Iowa its been rain, and LOTS of it.

In the midst of a busy spring for Jon and I at work, we were greeted Wednesday evening to a water leak in our basement that got worse before it got better.  Wednesday night, as the rain continued outside, water flowed in the basement.  Every few minutes the shop vac would suck up the water, only to have it come flowing back in.  After a restless night, Jon was in line at Menard's as it opened to get a replacement sump-pump which seemed to do the trick.  Now, the water is gone, but left is mold damage and the decision to replace the old carpet, or try to salvage it.
Carpet's pulled up and saved for the most part...now the pad had to go.

A suggestion from a friend...a caulk line dawn around the worst area...this gave Jon the chance to sleep a bit by containing the water.

But, prior to the rain there was some sunshine and some chances to get outside and enjoy it.  No matter what, we know its important to enjoy this time we have while he is little. Vinnie is the bright light in our lives.  He is what forces us to step outside of the stress and step away from the troubles and play.  He helps us remember how blessed we are to have what we have, and that we can get through this bump and that leak and come out on the other end much stronger.  Prayers for a dryer and happier spring!

Easter Excellence!

It was a fantastic Easter in the Keimig house!  The weather finally showed several glimmers of spring time.  We had several days of beautiful weather allowing us to get outside and both play and work.  Grandma Barb and Grandpa Norm traveled from Minnesota to spend the holiday with us.  Everyone enjoyed each other company...especially Vinnie and his Grandparents!  Vinnie entertained them with his constant chatter and bustling from one activity to the next.  The weekend included delicious sushi and yogurt, an egg hunt, a beautiful (and busy, thanks to Vinnie) church service, and great conversation and company!  Enjoy the pictures from the weekend!

The Best Intentions...

I had my mid-spring break post, updating everyone on our St. Patty's happenings and had the best intentions of posting pictures from our Nebraska trip upon our return.  Two weeks later...at least my intentions were good, right?!?

Our trip to Fremont/Council Bluffs/Omaha was absolutely perfect.  It gave us the opportunity to spend time catching up with extended family, provided some great entertainment, and gave us a chance to escape home briefly and relax a bit.

We started our time away on Thursday with a day and night in Fremont with Betty and Vic, Vinnie's Great Grandma and Great Grandpa.  Vinnie spent time bouncing around the house, running away from Great Grandpa and hiding eggs from Great Grandma.  Vinnie showed off his impressive eating skills and was his usual charming self!  Just before leaving Fremont, we were fortunate to spend a little time with Bob and Brenda as well!

From Fremont we ventured to our hotel in Council Bluffs for a nap before an exciting evening at "Disney On Ice."  Being that Vinnie is not too familiar with Disney Characters, we weren't sure how excited he would get over this show...but he LOVED it!  (And cried as the show ended!)

The next day we ventured to the Omaha Zoo, which was loved by the whole family!  What an incredible zoo!  Due to some chilly weather, we stuck to only indoor exhibits.  We look forward to returning sometime in the summer when we can enjoy the outdoor exhibits too!

Saturday night we met up with more extended family for Pizza in Omaha.  We enjoyed the conversation and the chance to catch up with everyone and Vinnie enjoyed chasing Miss Ava everywhere!

Sunday we headed for home, and dove right back into real life with laundry, and work the next day!

Overall it was a great trip with great family memories!!!
