The early morning hours

Greetings from yet another two hour delay.  The last one actually turned into a no school day...lets hope its not the same this time around!  I got the call for this delay last night, so I set my alarm for a little later hoping to get some extra, much needed sleep.  No such luck, awake before 5am and up at my usual time.  This is usually the case with these "delay" mornings.  My body is in work mode for the week and can't sleep in no matter how hard I try.  But, Vinnie can sleep in, thank goodness, and lately he has needed as much sleep as he can get.  So, I get up and get ready, and then have extra time to watch a little tv, search for jobs, or chat with all of you with a cup of coffee.  It is a great start to the day, no doubt...but something I would rather not happen. ;-)

This weekend, I was not so lucky to have any time to myself in the early morning hours.  I, in fact, was feeling quite miserable myself, having caught a bit of Vinnie's gunk, and hoping to get some extra sleep.  Vinnie had other ideas, as he does most weekend mornings.  So we spent the early morning of Saturday at the grocery store, hoping to beat the snow.  While we weren't lucky enough to make it home (or even out to the store for that matter) before snow flakes flew, we didn't run into too much trouble.  Saturday evening we enjoyed the company of my friend Stephanie and her two neices and nephew.  We ate a little pizza, did a little dancing, and had a whole lot of fun.  I enjoyed the social opportunity got a little break as Vinnie busied himself with trying to keep up with the other kiddos who were just a tad older than him.

Sunday brought early morning hours yet again, this time we enjoyed some donuts and milk (coffee for mom) while we watched a little Russia vs. Germany Women's hockey and read some library books.  I spent the day doing laundry and trying to steal a moment of rest here and there to gear up for a busy work week.  It was also on Sunday that I discovered gunk around Vinnie's right ear...the sure sign of an ear infection.  I am not completely surprised, he has been a regular faucet of snot since catching this cold, and that was always a ticket to an ear infection in the past.  The good news is...no fever, no antibiotics, no doctors visit for this kid.  Just a few drops in the ear 2 times a day for about a week, and we should be golden.  Whew!  Thank goodness for those tubes!

Well...its 8am, which means Vinnie should be up any moment, and we will begin our routine of preparing for the day.  Its already Tuesday, which means we are almost to the weekend.  Jon comes home Friday.  Can't wait to spend this weekend of love with my two favorite loves!!!

(sorry no pictures this post...technical difficulties.  I will try to get some pictures from the weekend up later!)
